Indus Action has a mission to enable the disadvantaged gain access to legislated rights sustainably, in India. Our first action is to create a breakthrough in inclusive education. We achieve this in collaboration with progressive state governments and a network of partner and community entrepreneurs. We are led by a world-class team and an international board.

India's Right to Education Section 12(1)(c) law mandates unaided, private schools reserve 25% of their entry grade seats to children belonging to socially or economically disadvantaged families. Essentially, due to this law, more than 11 million families now have a choice of selecting high-quality private schools across India in the next five years.

India's Right to Education law grants free access to high-quality private schools to economically and socially disadvantaged children. However, national seat fill rate is only ~15 percent. Indus Action has till 2018, enabled 90,000 students in less than 5 years, with 84% fill rate in our areas of operation. By 2020, we aim to enrol 1million children and are well on course to achieve the goal. By saving $1500 in tuition fees, families save 12% of their annual income. This yielded $45 million savings per every year thus far. We are able to deliver this impact at a marginal cost ($3 per child). Our cost-effective model ensures impact at 0.001% of the annual budget the government spends in implementing this policy.

This position will be responsible to design the strategic road map of the function and help recruit an army of passionate sharers and curators. Think Anna Wintour meets Ravish Kumar! The person should be a strategic thinker and should have the managerial skills to handle operations with a creative bent of mind. This position will be working closely with the leadership team, partner with the technology team, operations team, fundraising team, and work cross-functionally with most of the other teams at Indus Action and the partner ecosystem. In this role, you will engage in putting your skills and knowledge to play in a fun manner while having an impact on the development sector throughout your time with us while working with passionate people. 

Roles and responsibilities –  

  1. Act as an active and influential resource, ensuring that the message we share with our ecosystem aligns with our vision and goals for the organization.
  2. Representing Indus Action through collaterals to outside partners like legislators, regulators, journalists, and other non-profits.
  3. Build insights into a compelling story via static and video content for seasonal campaigns.
  4. Conceptualizing, creating and implementing campaigns nationally (both ATL, BTL) for various products and services creating high impact and visibility. We will always aspire to create a campaign and impact similar to Akshay Patra's 'The Possibilities'. 
  5. Ensure positive brand sentiment, online reputation management.
  6. Build & manage relations with key industry media personnel.
  7. Assist in developing and implementing integrated internal and external communications plans across the non-profit to support functional and organizational goals.
  8. Conceptualize and develop written materials for internal and external audiences. i.e. Newsletters, Op-eds, Articles, Slogans, etc.
  9. Manage press events, creating messaging, brief, press releases, fact sheets, Q&A, reactive statements.
  10. Manage agency relationships for website maintenance, digital marketing, social media content, publications, etc. 

Apply if you have:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English language, Linguistics, Media, Design, Marketing or any other field. Master’s degree would be a plus.
  2. 2 to 3 years of experience in Brand Management, Marketing Communications in any corporate organization or media agency.
  3. Creative, innovative, strong communication skills, collaboration, and priority-setting.
  4. CSR/Sustainability as well as crisis management experience is a plus.
  5. Team orientation, with a can-do attitude and ability to deliver breakthrough results.

Remuneration: 3,00,000 INR - 5,50,000 INR
